It is with heavy hearts that we must make you aware of the passing of Selpha, one of the precious young women in our sponsorship program. Selpha was a cheerful 15-year old girl who grew up in the Kiambiu community outside Nairobi. Medical complications led to her untimely death on Tuesday, October 13th, 2015.
Selpha was enthusiastic about learning, and hoped one day to become a doctor. Selpha loved playing netball and performing in music festivals. Selpha’s family was also very important to her. She loved her mother and four siblings, and constantly chose to put them first in all her decisions. On all her breaks from school, Selpha chose to spend her time around her house, helping her mother with chores and the other children. Selpha’s childhood was not easy, but even when she was going through hard times, Selpha always kept a positive attitude and remained optimistic about the future.
She was so excited about being enrolled in school at St. Patrick Secondary School, and loved studying history and geography. Selpha was humble and disciplined, and she never stopped seeking to improve herself.
While we will miss Selpha, and all of the light that she brought to this world, we want to encourage everyone to live in light of the legacy that Selpha created: one of resolve, one of courage, one of strength, and one of love.
Please keep Selpha’s family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. If you would like to send her mother or family a note, please email your condolences to samuel@action2africa.org.
