We are so excited to be able to announce that our first official school fee payment has been processed through Action Two Africa!
Just under a year after being registered with the Kenyan government as a non-governmental organization, we are making steady progress toward having a smooth system for educational sponsorships set up and functioning.
Thanks to the provision of the Lord through some generous donors, a young girl from the Kiambiu slum in Nairobi has had her current school year’s fees paid for. Marlyne will be turning 16 this summer, and, after graduating from high school, hopes to advance to university where she intends to study journalism.
Despite her family’s struggles, Marlyne understands the importance of pursuing her education. She has seen, and her community knows all too well, that when girls aren’t in school, they too often end up being young mothers, turning to crime, or worse.
We here at Action Two Africa (A2A) are so encouraged by Marlyne’s drive and initiative. We look forward to continuing to pursue a relationship with GlobalGiving.org so that we will be able to continue the process of raising money and facilitating educational sponsorships for more children like Marlyne.
Our plan is to enter GlobalGiving’s Open Challenge in June which, if we’re successful, will make us eligible to join the GlobalGiving community. The Open Challenge will entail us raising $5,000 from 40 unique donors in just 30 days. If we’re able to do this, Action Two Africa will be able to accept tax-deductible donations from donors anywhere in the world.
Please stay posted for more details in the coming months as we approach the launch date of the Open Challenge. If you are interested in partnering with us during the Open Challenge, please reach out to us by emailing info@action2africa.org.
Thanks so much for your interest! We are so excited about the future!
